De Deutsche Alpenverein DAV heeft de Bergunfallstatistik 2008/2009 gepubliceerd. Met in totaal 76 DAV-leden die tijdens bergsport om het leven kwamen zijn het de laagste cijfers sinds er een begin is gemaakt met het bijhouden van dergelijke cijfers in 1952.

Jorg Verhoeven is 11e geworden bij de derde IFSC World Cup Lead in Chuncheon, Korea. De Spanjaard Patxi Usobiaga Lakunza wint overtuigend. Bij de dames is er een mooie thuiszege voor de Koreaanse Jain Kim.

De NKBV houdt zich steeds meer bezig met duurzaamheid. Dit jaar zijn er een aantal concrete acties waaraan gewerkt wordt en waar de NKBV wel wat hulp bij zou kunnen gebruiken.

Na het succes van vorig jaar organiseert de sectie 50+ de 4-daagse wandeling Bergen op Zoom-Antwerpen. Iedere dag wordt er ca. 18-20 km gewandeld door een afwisselend landschap met kastelen en prachtige natuur. 

De klimvereniging Climb Up viert dit jaar haar 5-jarig bestaan. Dit viert Clim Up ondermeer met een open dag op zaterdag 25 september waar o.a. een proefles gevolgd kan worden.

Eind oktober 2010 start de opleiding tot Alpiene Instructeur 3 Winter (AI3 Winter). De opleiding borduurt voort op de cursus lawinekunde en begint met de theorie (PGO), gevolgd door twee praktijkweken en een proeve van bekwaamheid tijdens een toerskicursus.

De Commissie Expedities & Alpiene Topsport (CEAT) organiseert in het weekend van 2 en 3 oktober de jaarlijkse najaarsmeeting in Ettringen. Een klimweekend dat bedoeld is voor jonge, ambitieuze outdoorklimmers en ervaren expeditiegangers.

Het expeditieteam is 29 augustus veilig in Nederland aangekomen na een succesvolle expeditie.  Het team heeft meerdere beklimmingen volbracht van nog niet eerder klommen toppen tussen de 5200 en 5500 m.

De laatste wedstrijd van de bouldercompetitie 2010 vindt aanstaande zaterdag plaats in Monk. Het is de laatste mogelijk om je te kwalificeren voor het NK Boulderen.

The event was organized by Bulgarian Federation of speleology, Municipality of Smolyan and Speleo and extreme tourism club “Mursalitza” – Smolyan The hosts of the expedition Municipality Smolyan, ensured ideal conditions of life for the cavers, who had their “camp” in the hotel complex “Smolena” in village Smilian. Here, on 13 September the leader of the expedition Alexey Zhalov gather 14 cave divers from the SC”Stdenetz”-Pleven, “Puldin”-Plovdiv, NEPIAST – Burgas and “Mursalitza”-Smolyan One of the main aims of the expedition was to continue the exploration after the first sump of the famous cave Goluboitza (Golubovitza). This cave is a part of a system of 2 horizontal caves situated at different levels. The upper one is 140 m long. The longest and the most interesting is the middle part of the system - a spring cave, long 439 m, which ends upstream (at 349 m) and downstream (at 90 m) with sumps/siphons. The water capacity of the underwater river is between 30 and 300 l/sec. The water temperature is 8оС. Last year the cave divers Orlin Kolov and Tzvetan Petrov - a team from SC “Studenetz”- Pleven dived the sump upstream (30 long and 4 m deep, visibility 5 m) .They entered into a gallery, which they follow for about 540 m upstream. After the researchers penetrated further, found a second, dry cave layer and stopped in front second sump. The passage was ascending and crossed with 2-3 small waterfalls. From World Caving News http://www.zenas.gr/WCN => BLUE SPRINGS, Florida (20 Sep 2008) Authorities told CDNN Richard Mork died while scuba diving on Friday afternoon with a friend in a cave called Jackson Blue.Mork and his friend, Dan Weyant, both from Texas, descended about 2,000 feet into an area called Rabbit Hole.At that point, Mork encountered problems and apparently lost consciousness.Weyant told rescue officials he found Mork unresponsive with his regulator out of his mouth.He tried to revive the victim with his alternate air scource (back-up regulator) but Mork never regained consciousness.Mork's body was recovered by Jackson County Sheriff's Office dive team members and two certified cave divers.The 14th Circuit Medical Examiner's office in Bay County will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.Earlier this year, Joel Mitchell Tubbs, 41, also died cave diving in the same area.
